Your home has changed.
Has your panel?
From everyday appliances to a new EV charger, the way you use electricity can change over time. An older panel may need attention before your home takes its next step.
Young Electric provides panel upgrades, replacements, and residential electrical inspections throughout the Portland Metro area and Central Oregon. We look at your existing equipment and listen to your plans, so the work starts with your home’s needs.
Whether you’re addressing aging equipment or preparing for a remodel, our licensed electricians can help you find a practical path forward.
Let’s talk about your homeIs it time to assess
your electrical panel?
You don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong before you call. An electrical inspection is a good place to start.
Breakers keep tripping
Recurring trips or flickering lights deserve a professional assessment. The issue could involve a circuit, wiring, or equipment; replacing the panel isn’t automatically the answer.
Your equipment is aging
The panel’s condition, installation quality, and manufacturer all matter. Young Electric’s home safety inspections help identify equipment that needs attention.
You’re adding something new
An EV charger, heat pump, or new electric appliance can change your home’s power needs. Have your available capacity assessed before adding a major electrical load.
A remodel is on the horizon
A kitchen renovation or other home improvement is a useful time to review the electrical system. Bring your plans into the conversation early.

Need to Replace a
Federal Pacific Panel?
If your home has an older Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) panel, contact Young Electric to discuss replacement. FPE Stab-Lok breakers have documented concerns about failing to trip during an overload or short circuit, potentially allowing wiring to overheat and increasing the risk of fire.
Understand your next step.
Young Electric can assess your existing equipment, explain the replacement options, and provide a free estimate. If your insurance company has raised concerns about your panel, share its requirements with our team.

Panel upgrade
questions, answered.
Every home is different. We’re here to help you understand yours.
Talk with our teamDo I need to replace my electrical panel?
That depends on its condition, installation, and ability to serve your home. Our home safety inspections consider factors such as equipment age and manufacturer. An assessment helps determine whether a replacement, repair, or other electrical work is appropriate.
Do I need a 200-amp upgrade for an EV charger?
Not necessarily. The right approach depends on your existing service capacity and electrical loads. A professional load assessment can help establish what your home can support. Adding an EV charger does not automatically mean the whole panel must be upgraded.
How long does a panel replacement take?
A panel-only replacement can take a day or less. When both the meter and panel are involved, the work can take up to two days. Your project’s scope may change that timing. Discuss the schedule and any power interruption with our team before work begins.
How much will my panel upgrade cost?
We provide free estimates for electrical projects. Contact us with details about your home and what you want to change so we can discuss the recommended work and its cost. A specific estimate is more useful than a price that assumes every home needs the same work.
Does the installation come with a warranty?
Yes. We offer a five-year warranty on the labor of all installations. Ask our team about the coverage that applies to your project and any separate equipment warranty.
Is a smart panel required?
No. A SPAN smart panel is an option for homeowners interested in monitoring and controlling individual circuits. General panel replacement and SPAN installation are different service options; we can discuss which fits your goals.
